From inspiring events and personal challenges to the small but mighty acts of generosity, our community never ceases to amaze us.
Tropic Skincare called by for an airbase visit this month, and we were thrilled to welcome them.
Back in July, they held a wonderful pamper afternoon tea, raising an amazing £1,420. Who knew tea, cake, and pure relaxation could do such good?!
That’s not all – they also helped raise an additional £111 on the GNAAS stall, thanks to the Tropic ladies donating amazing prizes for our game on the day.
Skydives and socials
Three good friends and colleagues from Sedbergh – Sharn, Barbra and Pat – visited our Langwathby base earlier this month to present us with a fabulous donation.
Together, they raised £3,432 for GNAAS taking part in a very courageous Skydive and playing Bingo – no, not at the same time! A brilliant team effort.
A shot of support
Following the Whitfield Clay Shoot back in May, we received a generous donation of £3,000 from the event.
We’ve been proud to have their support since 2022, and to date, they have raised over £13,500 for us since then.
Thank you so much for your continued hard work and dedication.
Tee-rific fundraisers
Volunteer Kate had the pleasure of attending a cheque presentation in September at Goswick Golf Club following their charity golf competition.
The total raised was a surprise, so Kate and fundraiser Amanda only discovered the final amount on the day.
Pedal power
Rob, a window cleaner from Whitby, completed a 100-mile bike ride in memory of his younger brother, raising funds for our life-saving service.
Rob did lots of research into our work and spread the word about us to all of his customers, and his research even spurred him on to make a Just Giving page something he has never done before.
He raised over £3,000, including Gift Aid, and visited our base with his daughter Chloe to present the cheque this month. Rob also met with Ian, one of our paramedics, and is already making plans for next year’s bike ride. We’ve even heard murmurs of a Jump4GNAAS with Chloe! Watch this space…
Charley’s charity cycle
Charley, a Darlington College student, also hopped on her bike to raise money for GNAAS. She raised over £1,000 through her sponsored bike ride. A brilliant achievement!
Howdy, Miles!
The Isle of Man team also attended a Country & Western Night, hosted by Maria Marlow and her fantastic team.
It was such a fun event with Miles popping in to bust his moves on the dance floor (he was very popular with the ladies!), and they raised £2,000 for GNAAS. Yeehaw!
50 and flying
To mark her 50th birthday, Emma Peters took to the skies this month for a thrilling skydive in support of GNAAS.
As part of her Jump4GNAAS fundraiser, Emma raised over £1,000 to help fund the lifesaving work of our team. Her incredible effort not only celebrated a milestone birthday but also brought awareness and support to a cause close to her heart.
Roaring generosity
We were delighted to welcome our loyal supporters, the Lions Club of Penrith, to our Langwathby base earlier this month.
Throughout the year, they raise money for various good causes, and this year their local air ambulance was one of them.
They presented us with a generous cheque for £1,000 – thank you for your ongoing support!
Revved up for a cause
We attended Wooler Golf Club for the North East Vinduro’s half yearly get-together.
Over the years, the group have raised more than £14,000 for GNAAS through various raffles… such an incredible achievement.
Despite a very soggy weekend, spirits weren’t dampened! Everyone who came for the meal and auction seemed to enjoy the event and collectively raised over £2,400!
Running miles for meaning at The Great North Run
September also saw the Great North Run take place, a tough challenge spanning 13.1-miles, from Newcastle to South Shields. We’re so lucky to have so many competitors want to race on our behalf and we’re so proud of everyone who chose to run for GNAAS.
A special shoutout goes to Hazel Johnson, who fundraised with the help of her friend Michelle and their supportive community. From sweet sales to bake-offs, Hazel’s efforts have been wide-ranging. Unfortunately, she didn’t make last year’s ballot, but this year she did! Plus, she will be running for us again next year and her fundraising has already begun.
We’d also like to say a huge thank you to Craig and Gregg, who ran the Great North Run in memory of Casey, raising over £3k for GNAAS.
Well done to all the amazing runners who took part!
The final roundup
We’ve had cheque presentations left, right and centre – what a spectacular month it’s been.
Berwick Young Farmers raised an impressive £1,160 through their muck marathon, and our volunteer Emma went along to thank them in person.
Rachel Harris took to the skies and completed a tandem skydive, raising an impressive £588.72.
Meanwhile, Robert Shaw, Club Captain at Silloth Golf Club, hosted a charity golf day with over 200 players, raising a fantastic £7,580 for GNAAS.
Another huge thank you to all of our remarkable supporters this month. You’ve made it mega!
